The Ergonomists of Faentia Consulting shall be taking part in the International Ergonomics Association Congress 2018, to be held in Florence, Italy, from 26 to 30 August. Now in its 20th edition, the Association's main goal remains unchanged: the application and development of ergonomic theory, extending it to as many sectors and applications as possible to improve quality of life.
As in previous editions, this year's programme encompasses numerous interdisciplinary areas such as Automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0 (i4.0) and medical workplaces yet also human factors in the aerospace field. At present, the above-mentioned areas of interest are the main sectors in which Faentia Consulting operates. More specifically, we've been involved in diagnostic techniques such as Endoscopy and surgical techniques like Laparoscopy for some time now. Such techniques have significantly changed the way operating theatres work as they allow internal examination and surgery using precision instruments that are far less invasive. Building on our knowledge in the aerospace sector, especially drones and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), we have investigated working conditions for Endoscopy and Laparoscopy surgical teams and worked with medical device manufacturers to improve those conditions to reduce errors, operation times and costs.
Faentia Consulting will proudly present its paper on the Comparative Analysis of Subjective Workload in Laparoscopy and Open Surgery using NASA-TLX at 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday 28 August in the Raffaello Room in Palazzo dei Congressi, Florence. We see this presentation as an exciting starting point for the establishment of work groups made up of workers, human factor Ergonomists-Engineers and manufacturers.
In the run-up to IEA Congress 2018, we kindly invite you to consult the programme for this edition and re-read some of our past posts on Ergonomics and Human Factors, a field which some have even renamed the Mother of all scientific disciplines!
